Environmental Policy 2025-2026

Mayne Veterinary Clinic is passionate about protecting the environment and reducing our carbon footprint through innovation within the Veterinary Sustainability field.

We acknowledge that our operations have an effect on the environment and have identified our key environmental aspects that contribute to our environmental and carbon footprint:

• Consumption of electricity, gas, water, and other resources through running of our practice premises.

• Use of volatile halogenated anaesthetic gases (isoflaurane) during anaesthesia

• Waste generation and disposal

• Business and commuter travel

• Use of raw materials, including prescribed drugs and medicines

• Procured goods and services with their own environmental impact

Our practice is committed to reducing its environmental impact through a journey of continual measurement and improvement by working through the Investors in the Environment Accreditation Scheme. We are signed up with Eco Offset to help us offset carbon we produce as a practice and on a per staff member basis. Our our carbon footprint is calculated through Vet Sustain, we began this in 2024 and will use this as our baseline from which to measure and monitor our progress in the future.

Our environmental commitment can be demonstrated in our established objectives and goals below:

• ‘Continue recording and monitoring our resource use and set targets to reduce our carbon footprint’.

• Commitment to Net Zero by 2050

• Compliance with all applicable environmental regulations and public/customer expectations

• Continue to use our waste/recycling policy and sustainable procurement policy

• Make our commitment and achievements available to the public on our website

• Through use of our staff transport incentive continue to encourage cycling and public transport

• Continue to carry out yearly team projects to show our commitment to the environment

• Working with suppliers to ensure they acknowledge and decrease the environmental impact of their products and transportation

• Undertake independent annual audit with Investors in the Environment (iiE)

We will continue to improve our environmental management system through annual reviews and updates, taking into account any changes in legislation, our organisation, and other factors. We will convey this policy to all our employees ensuring that they are provided with training to increase awareness of environmental matters.

Lindsey Raven Emrich RVN is our Sustainability Champion and has designated responsibility for the day-to-day implementation of this policy.

Mayne Vets will make this policy available when requested to interested parties including members of the public, including making a copy available on the website.
