Veterinary Surgeon (Maternity Cover)

We have an exciting opportunity for all you vets out there to work in our independent, progressive, ethical family run practice! Starting in July we have a 2-3 day week position starting as a fixed term contract available to cover one of our amazing vets whilst they are on maternity leave. We are happy to support newer graduates just starting out or you more seasoned vets looking for a fresh start.

Being a 50 minute train ride from London and Stanstead airport and based on the North Essex/Suffolk border, we are surrounded by beautiful countryside and awesome beaches with plenty of travel opportunities and day trips.

However, what really sets out practice aside is the way our team have such a strong influence over how it is run. The best ideas come from the team themselves, so we have well established systems in place for quickly bringing ideas generated into fruition, no idea is a bad idea! Our team have freedom to grow their individual roles and the practice in a way that improves their enjoyment of the job. We have weekly vet meetings for clinical case discussions, team projects and catch ups.

Environment

As a result of team led initiatives in reducing our environmental impact we have obtained and maintained ‘Green Status‘ from Investors in the Environment since 2022, were awarded “Green (small) Practice of the Year Award” in 2024 and the “Champions of Health and Wellness” at The Vet Dynamics Awards. We encourage recycling, waste reduction and energy usage within the clinic and have numerous initiatives in place to support this.

Wellbeing

Our team’s wellbeing is important to us as high level patient care. We are passionate about creating a space were you feel valued, motivated and empowered to make a difference to the animals you treat. We manage the appointment diary and surgical schedule to allow time for that all important lunch break, catching up on notes and phoning clients. We have team outings, for those who are interested, ranging from a night out at bingo, a simple walk and lunch together or an evening celebrating bonfire with toasting marshmallows. We have an outdoor seating area for those warmer days to enjoy your lunch break away from the clinic.

We have two trained mental health first aiders within the practice and provide an Employee Assistance Programme through BUPA.
